Program Description:

Psychedelic experiences may be some of the most powerful and inspiring of a person’s life, yet mental health care providers can be at a loss for how to incorporate them into therapy or draw on their inspiration to promote growth and positive change. Mindfulness meditation practices, well established in mental health care, offer a bridge to integrate psychedelic experiences into psychotherapy. This interactive, experiential workshop provides an overview of psychedelic integration in psychotherapy and research on meditation and psychedelics. Participants engage in a series of demonstrative meditative exercises that can be used to assist clients in cultivating an ongoing relationship with the profound insights of more ephemeral psychedelic experiences. Attendees will gain an understanding of how contemplative and mind-body practices can support patients in touching into and gently staying with experiences and insights of psychedelic experiences so that these might be further incorporated into the larger scope of life. The content and practice of mindfulness for psychedelic integration will be explored in a supportive, experiential space that allows participants to give voice to their own experience with non-verbal, inner directed guidance.

This workshop is limited to 40 participants and recommended for licensed mental health care providers with an existing understanding of psychedelic-assisted therapy and psychedelic integration. Prior attendance at the presenter’s Psychedelics 101 & 102 for Clinicians, or similar, is recommended, but not required. One of the practices, “listening hands” is an exploration of touch and energy sensing with other participants.

Learning Objectives At the end of the program, participants will be better able to…

  1. Describe the relationship between meditation and psychedelic states
  2. Apply mindfulness practices to the integration of psychedelic experiences in psychotherapy
