This program includes two courses: Introduction to Ketamine for Mental Health and Introduction to Ketamine-assisted Therapy. These courses feature Fluence Trainers Dr. Ingmar Gorman, Dr. Elizabeth Nielson, Jeffrey Guss, MD, and Casey Paleos, MD. Between them, these researchers and clinicians have extensive experience in clinical trials of psychedelic-assisted therapy and private practice KAP, clinical work in preparation and integration of ketamine experiences, and training clinicians in psychedelic therapy–both for research trials and private practice settings.

  • Introduction to Ketamine for Mental Health covers mechanisms of action, emerging indications, treatment models, subjective effects, and risks and precautions.
  • Introduction to Ketamine-Assisted Therapy covers the theoretical background, orientation, and practical knowledge for conducting ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, and includes four demonstration session recordings.

Both courses include knowledge check questions, and a continuing education certificate, and can be completed at your convenience entirely online.

Learning Objectives

  • Analyze factors of ‘set and setting’ as they relate to a) physical features of a dosing environment; b) therapist gender identity; c) the role of race, culture, and ethnicity; and d) early sexual, physical, and/or emotional abuse histories.
  • List current evidence-based practices for use of therapeutic ketamine to optimize safe, effective, and ethical ketamine administration and dosing.
  • Prepare a plan to help patients navigate a range of treatment outcomes, including those related to disappointment and/or sudden wellness.
  • Describe the current clinical research on ketamine’s safety, efficacy, clinical indications, and contraindications.
  • List current evidence-based practices for use of set and setting to optimize safe, effective, and ethical ketamine administration and dosing.

Continuing Education

  • Together, these courses offer a total of 5 hours of CE credits. Fluence is approved by APA and NYSED to offer CE for Psychologists, Social Workers, and LMHCs.
