Alexis holds an M.A. in Psychology from Stony Brook University (2023). Beginning during her graduate program, she joined the Multi-Modal Translational Imaging (MMTI) lab at Stony Brook University Medicine's Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health as lead research support specialist on studies investigating neurobiological and behavioral markers of opioid use disorder. Her work integrates multimodal approaches - including neuromelanin-sensitive MRI, fMRI, endocrine, and behavioral measures, focusing on translating complex neuroscience into clinically meaningful insights.
Alexis is particularly interested in the intersection of addiction science and psychedelic-assisted therapy, with an emphasis on developing ethical, scalable, and patient-centered treatment models. Her work is guided by a commitment to harm reduction and the responsible integration of these therapies into mainstream mental health care.
Outside of her professional work, Alexis enjoys creating art, attending live music events, and is a self-proclaimed expert-in-training on the writings of J.R.R. Tolkien.
