Overview
Why attend this webinar?
In this live webinar, moderated by Fluence’s Director of Product Dan MacCombie, we’ll explore the rich intersection of psychedelics, Buddhist psychology, and questions of selfhood. Dr. Megan Rundel brings a unique perspective as a psychoanalyst, Zen teacher, and experienced psychedelic therapist. Her work sits at the confluence of contemplative traditions and depth psychology, offering nuanced insight into how concepts of self and no-self can emerge in psychedelic experiences.
Together, we’ll look at what ego dissolution actually means, how to think about patient selection and clinical readiness for these experiences, and the complex work of integrating profound states that challenge ordinary identity. Megan will also discuss common pitfalls, like spiritual bypassing or using “no-self” frameworks to avoid vulnerability, and how clinicians can ethically and skillfully navigate these conversations.
Megan Rundel, Ph.D., is a Trainer with Fluence, and a psychoanalyst, psychedelic therapist, and Zen teacher based in Oakland, CA. She is a Personal and Supervising Analyst and faculty member at the Psychoanalytic Institute of Northern California and serves as a guiding teacher at the Crimson Gate Meditation Community, where she leads Zen practice with an emphasis on bringing insight into everyday life.
Megan holds a certificate in Psychedelic-Assisted Therapies and Research from CIIS and has completed several advanced trainings in ketamine and psychedelic therapy. Her recent paper, Psychedelic Psychoanalysis: Transformations of the Self, was published in Psychoanalytic Dialogues in 2022. With a unique blend of psychoanalytic depth, contemplative practice, and psychedelic expertise, Megan invites a nuanced exploration of self, healing, and transformation.
This event will benefit clinicians, students, and anyone curious about:
Understanding what ego dissolution and non-dual, no-self experiences really mean in psychedelic practice
Considering how a client’s sense of self and identity guides decisions about who may be well-suited (or not) for ego dissolution or no-self experiences
Learning how to help clients integrate ego dissolution or no-self experiences without losing stability
Bringing together insights from Buddhist psychology and psychoanalysis on these profound states
The conversation will conclude with a live Q&A. Reserve your spot and join us for a thoughtful, practice-grounded dialogue.

What students have to say about our programs...
I really appreciate Fluence. The trainings and coursework, the literature shared, the community, self-development and insightful explorations have strengthened me as a professional and given such a sense of competence in this evolving space.
Amy Johnson
LCSW
I've been more than thrilled about my experience with Fluence thus far. I am a ketamine-assisted psychotherapist and
continue to learn more information and modalities to incorporate into my practice, from both the instructors and
fellow students.
LAURA HUTCHINS,
LCMHC, LCAS, KAP Consulting
My entire experience with Fluence has been exceptional. The instructors are giants in the psychedelic field, many are active in clinical research and you will see their names in scientific publications.
Stephanie Barss,
FNP, PMHNP, Psilocybin-Assisted Therapy
Certificate Program Advisor
The trainers at Fluence are what continually confirm that I am in the right place. The reverence and honor with which they approach their work is so evident. I have felt a sense of safety
at Fluence that is not present in other organizations I have
trained with or researched, and it is the trainers who create that safety.
Andrea Bigenho,
LPC specialist in Psychedelic Integration
