Program Overview

This program is designed for clinicians planning to expand their knowledge and practice to include ketamine-assisted psychotherapy. Whether you’re taking initial steps into this field or aiming to deepen your existing expertise, this program offers comprehensive insights and practical skills essential for competent and ethical practice. We aim to make this new therapeutic approach accessible through the completion of this program.

The course work emphasizes the standards of informed consent, preparation, administration and integration sessions particularly relevant in both research and private practice settings. We will cover best practices through the treatment arc, from client intake to completion. To best support your development the curriculum emphasizes experiential learning with practical knowledge and skills. There will be dedicated time each week to practice in role plays with peers and the classes are supported by weekly home practice assignments. As part of these materials, we provide demonstration videos in the classroom from case examples to bring the materials into greater clarity.

The handouts and resources included in the program are designed to address the common knowledge gaps from traditional psychotherapy practice. These materials will provide the appropriate resources for you to educate and support your patients effectively.

Admission Requirements and Application

The Certificate program is open only to licensed psychotherapists, physicians, nurses, and other professionals who can legally provide mental health care and have a background and training in psychotherapy. Candidates for the KAP program must meet all the following criteria:

  • Hold an active medical or clinical license or be on track to obtain licensure through an advanced degree program or post-graduate professional experience.
  • Have prior training and counselling experience practicing psychotherapy or related health care services in the field of mental health or addiction treatment.

Additionally, candidates are expected to have the capacity to participate online in a group learning process. These qualifications outline the minimum requirements for the program. The Admissions Committee will consider years of experience, education, and capabilities.

The application includes basic information about the applicant, their professional background, and existing experience. It also includes opportunities for applicants to present their intentions, values, goals, and aspirations for joining the program. New applications will be asked to pay a one time, non-refundable $100 application fee—those who have already completed the PTI application do not need to pay the application fee again.

The Admissions Committee will review and come to a decision on the approval and admission of the applicant within 1 week of receipt. Additional Fluence training team members may be consulted for input during this process, and any team members’ existing relationship with the applicant may be taken into consideration. Once a decision has been reached the program administrator will provide the applicant with an acceptance, deferral, or refusal letter.

I enjoyed all aspects of it. The classes were informative, the instruction was first-class, and the retreat offered an opportunity to expand relationships with people met in class. I have professional opportunities I would not have otherwise had. Win-win-win!

What I have found in the program is an experience I will treasure and return to again and again; the mission and vision of Fluence, its expert founders, mentors and instructors, the caring and thoughtfulness with which each course was made and run, and the network of fellow students of a diverse array of professional achievements and pursuits has been nothing short of enriching and inspiring.
